The Old Goucher neighborhood sits at the southern end of the greater Charles Village area just north of the Station North Arts and Entertainment District. The name, Old Goucher, refers to the historic buildings that once housed the Goucher College Campus in the late 1800's and early 1900's. The school moved to its current location in Towson in the 1940's, but has since made an effort to re-establish itself in the community. Most of these distinctive Goucher College buildings still stand.
Old Goucher's central location, transportation links, and high walk-ability have driven recent development in the area as residents and developers take advantage of diverse housing opportunities. Old Goucher is also known for its variety of ethnic restaurants and shops, along with hundreds of other businesses. The area takes pride in its architecture and is a national historic district. The neighborhood has one park, two playgrounds, one library, 6 schools, 14 churches, 2500 residents and over 400 businesses.
The neighborhood boundaries are EAST to WEST: North Howard Street - Guilford Ave, NORTH to SOUTH - 27th Street - 20th Street.
