Baltimore Design School Approved for Lebrow Building in Greenmount West
The Baltimore City School Board has approved a $1.7 million annual lease for the Baltimore Design School to occupy the historic Lebow building in Greenmount West starting in 2013. The Baltimore Design School will open this fall at the former Winston Middle School building with 150 students in sixth and seventh grade, and will expand to grades 9 through 12 by 2016. Applications are still being accepted for students who will begin seventh grade in fall 2011; visit the school's website for more information.
Request for Qualifications - Lanvale Site at Amtrak's Baltimore Penn Station
Amtrak is seeking a qualified developer for an approximately 1.5 acre parcel of land fronting on East Lanvale Street across the tracks from Baltimore's Penn Station. A Request for Qualifications (RFQ) process is being employed to select a developer to design and construct a mixed-use, mixed-income urban transit-oriented development. Lanvale Site at Amtrak's Baltimore Penn Station: Development Study and Highest and Best Use Analysis
Conducted by WRT, the purpose of the study was to determine the "highest and best use" of the property and to create a development concept which not only creates value for Amtrak, but also meets the objectives of the community and conforms with the City of Baltimore's vision for the district. The Reinvestment Fund and the Baltimore Integration Initiative
The Reinvestment Fund, a key partner is the Baltimore Integration Partnership, has put together a great presentation covering the types of products and lending services that they are offering as part of the Baltimore Integration Initiative. Greenmount West Vision Plan
Comprised of both a master plan and a vacant property disposition plan, the Greenmount West Vision Plan is a comprehensive, multi-pronged development strategy for the neighborhood. Charles North Vision Plan

Barclay/Old Goucher Redevelopment Plan
In 2006, Telesis Corporation was chosen by Baltimore Housing and community representatives to lead a redevelopment and revitalization initiative for the Barclay / Old Goucher neighborhood in central Baltimore. The goal of the redevelopment plan is to transform the neighborhood into a stable, mixed-income community with quality open spaces, community facilities, and employment opportunities. Barclay-Midway-Old Goucher Small Area Plan
In June 2005, the Baltimore City Department of Planning completed a Small Area Plan for the Barclay-Midway-Old Goucher community. The plan takes a comprehensive look at the area and includes strategies and recommendations for land use, housing and other issues in the community. Central Baltimore Higher Education Collaborative - Community Initiatives Directory
Central Baltimore has caught the attention of local colleges and universities. The central Baltimore buzz is contagious - it has spread across the campuses of the University of Baltimore, Johns Hopkins University, Maryland Institute College of Art and Goucher College. From students to academia to university leadership, everyone is interested in what's going on north of Penn Station. In the Central Baltimore Partnership's recently published Community Initiatives Directory, there are over one hundred community outreach activities and initiatives happening at central Baltimore's colleges and universities. The iniatives range from student groups housing community service events to large scale real estate investments to central Baltimore-themed courses.
