CRAYON Fund

Central Baltimore Partnership is excited to launch the CRAYON Fund (Cool Resources Accessible for Youth Opportunities in Neighborhoods). The CRAYON Fund is a micro-grant that will support neighborhood activities and events that empower Central Baltimore youth and families, supplement their social education, and develop their leadership capacity in their communities. In this, Central Baltimore Partnership is committed to ensuring that everyone benefits equitably from the revitalization of Central Baltimore, especially youth and their families. ELIGIBILITY:
• Applicants can be organized residents or community-based organizations (community associations, nonprofit organizations, community centers, and other community-based groups) that are incorporated as a nonprofit and either 1) hold tax-exempt status (501c3), 2) are fiscally-sponsored by an organization with 501c3 status, or 3) have a group bank account.
• Applicants must be based in or serve the communities of Barclay, Charles North, Harwood, Greenmount West, Old Goucher, and Remington.

Applicants who do not meet the eligibility requirements are encouraged to reach out to Aaron Kaufman at akaufman@centralbaltimore.org for project review on a case-by-case basis.


TYPICAL GRANT REQUEST: between $100 and $500. $500 is the maximum amount that can be awarded to any project.


HOW TO APPLY:
• Please click here to download the application.
• Applications must be completed in full and submitted to Aaron Kaufman per the submission instructions below.
• Applications are accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis until all funds for the year have been awarded. This fund will continue through 2021.
• The Volunteer Review Committee and CBP staff review all applications and selects organizations.
• Applicants will be notified of award two- to -four weeks from application submission.
• All grantees are required to sign a grant agreement before receiving funding and must complete a final report with all proof of payments submitted to CBP once the project/activity/event has been completed. (Proof of payments include: original receipts with credit card number, copies of cancelled checks, and or/bank statements with matching invoices. Paid stamps on invoices will not be accepted).
• There is a maximum of two awards per applicant each year and a maximum of six awards per neighborhood each year.

SPECIAL NOTES:
Priority will be given to applications that accomplish one or more of the CRAYON Fund goals:
• Fund neighborhood, block level events and activities.
• Create opportunities to empower youth and build leadership development capacity in Central Baltimore.
• Increase opportunities for parental engagement and intergenerational activities.
• Provide hands-on learning and growth opportunities in public education, recreation, and social/cultural competencies.
• Build the connection between residents within and across neighborhood lines.
• Serve youth and/or families in the communities of Barclay, Charles North, Harwood, Greenmount West, Old Goucher, and Remington.


SUCCESSFUL APPLICATIONS WILL INCLUDE:
• Profile, project description, and ALL narrative responses.
• Budget and community contributions (ex: volunteer time, matching funds, etc.).
• Evidence of community support, such as community association letter of support/email confirmation, neighborhood block resident signatures, etc.
