In Support of Black Lives Matter

In Support of Black Lives Matter and in Honor of George Floyd: —A message from our Executive Director:

The Central Baltimore Partnership honors the extraordinary public action taking place in Baltimore and around the world by the Black Lives Matter movement and other racial justice organizations in tribute to George Floyd and the many others who have lost their lives due to police brutality and racial injustice.

Every day, collectively our over 120 partners are working to achieve the values that are at the heart of these peaceful demonstrations. Like those marching and speaking out, we are committed to creating equity and economic opportunity for all. At CBP we believe these values can be realized if everyone works together.  We know that diversity enriches Central Baltimore, like nothing else can. We see it in our eleven neighborhoods every day.

To those who live or work in Abell, Barclay, Charles North, Charles Village, East Baltimore Midway, Greenmount West, Harwood, Oakenshawe, Old Goucher, Remington, or Wyman Park, you are part of a uniquely collaborative, diverse community. Here, residents, students, artists, small businesses, education and healthcare institutions, community groups and nonprofits have joined together to achieve an ambitious revitalization and equity agenda. Together, our partners work to offer

  • Support for youth and families
  • Job training and hiring
  • Opportunities for artists and small business
  • Health and mental health care
  • New recreation activities
  • Decent affordable housing

CBP unites this work to create initiatives that encourage self-empowerment and social capital in the communities we serve, communities where everyone, every family and household, can benefit and feel valued. We encourage everyone and need everyone to do the work of eliminating systemic racism and social injustice, to make Baltimore the great city it can be. Speak out and step in.
